|Matthew 27.62-66; 28.11-15.|

27.62 But on the morrow, which is after the preparation, the high priests and the Pharisees gathered together with Pilate, 63 saying: Lord, we remember that while he was still living that deceiver said: After three days I am being raised again. 64 Command therefore that the sepulcher be made safe until the third day, lest his disciples should come and steal him and say to the people: He was raised from the dead, and the last deception will be worse than the first. 65 Pilate said to them: You have a guard; go on, make it safe as you know how. 66 And they journeyed and made the sepulcher safe, sealing the stone along with the guard.
28.11 And while they were journeying behold, certain ones of the guard came into the city and announced to the high priests all the things that had happened. 12 And they gathered together with the elders and took counsel and gave sufficient silver coins to the soldiers, 13 saying: Say: His disciples came by night and stole him while we were sleeping. 14 And if this should be heard by the governor, we will persuade him and make you free of worry. 15 And they took the silver coins and did as they had been taught. And this word was spread widely among the Jews until today.
